Preparing for Your Vaccine

Find Your County’s COVID-19 website at covid19.ca.gov/get-local-information/ and sign up for county alerts ﷟HYPERLINK "https://covid19.ca.gov/sign-up-for-county-alerts/"
Visit MyTurn.ca.gov/ to find out if it’s your turn to be vaccinated and register for alerts. If you’re eligible now, you can schedule an appointment, or register to be notified when one is available. You can also call (833) 422-4255. Operators speak English and Spanish, with support in more than 250+ languages

Currently three vaccines are authorized and recommended to prevent COVID-19:
- Pfizer-BioNTech, which requires 2 shots 21 days apart
- Moderna, which requires 2 shots 28 days apart
- Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen, which requires 1 shot

After COVID-19 vaccination, you may have some side effects. These are normal signs that your body is building immunity. The most common side effects are pain and swelling in the arm where you received the shot. You may also have fever, chills, tiredness, or headache. They may affect your ability to do daily activities, but should go away in a few days.
Remember that you are not considered fully vaccinated until 2 weeks after your second dose in a 2 dose series (like Pfizer or Moderna) and 2 weeks after a single dose vaccine (like Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen)
Once fully vaccinated, it is important to continue protecting yourself and others. Follow updated CDC guidelines on what is considered safe after you are fully vaccinated (i.e. being able to gather indoors with others who are fully vaccinated!) and what you must continue to do (i.e. wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces)
