Volunteer Speaker Notes– Please familiarize yourself with the brief responses and if possible visit the links for more detailed information.
If the person is distrusting of the vaccine:
- Ask them to tell you why they do not trust the vaccine to be safe. Acknowledge their concerns. It is important not to be dismissive of peoples’ concerns about the vaccine. There is a lot of misinformation circulating, as well as historical reasons as to why folks would feel skeptical.
- Let them know that you are here as a volunteer and that California's top medical experts have recommended the vaccine since they have been proven to be highly effective in strengthening your immunity against COVID 19.
- Share your personal experience if you have gotten the vaccine or know of anyone close to you that has received the vaccine.

If the person does not want to talk to you or becomes hostile towards you:
- Wish them a good day and move on to another person. Your goal is to educate others as best you can. Not everyone will be receptive to talking about or registering for the COVID-19 vaccine.
If the person is frustrated with the vaccination rollout:
- Acknowledge their frustrations. Share that CA’s plan is to prioritize vaccines for those who are most vulnerable first and that CA is continuing to ramp up vaccination efforts as supply increases.
